DIY Beauty Recipes with IVY

I have to say I absolutely love making my own beauty products not only are they chemical free and great for your skin, but also great for the environment too with no plastic packaging! We have teamed up with beauty therapist Rebekah from Ivy Salon De Beaute to bring you some simple DIY beauty recipes that you can do with things you have at home already. From natural eyebrow tinting to face cleaners, toners, body scrubs and face masks you can make so many beauty products from things you can find in your kitchen cupboards. Natural Eyebrow Tinting

What you need:

  • Coffee (1-3 tsp used coffee grounds depending on desired shade)
  • 1 tsp Oil (olive or coconut)
  • 1 tsp Honey
  • Coco Powder (Optional 2tsp for darker brows)

Instructions:

  • Clean both eyebrows with a warm cloth and pat dry
  • Comb the eyebrows in an upward direction
  • Mix all ingredients in a small bowl and apply to eyebrows
  • Leave for 15-20 mins (longer for a darker tint)
  • Gently remove with a damp cloth or cotton pad (do not scrub)

 

Ground Oats Cleanser

For all skin types this cleanser recipe is a great all round go to for removing dirt and oil from pores, helps treat acne prone skin and works as an anti-inflammatory. It also helps reduce wrinkles and fine lines and even treats dry and sun-damaged skin! What’s not to love?!

What you need:

  • 4tsp of plain ground oats
  • 1tsp of distilled water

Instructions:

  • Rinse face with warm water
  • Place ground oats in palm of hand
  • Add the tsp of water
  • Mix well with fingertips to form a paste
  • Apply to face using small upward circular motions for 2-3 mins
  • Wash off with warm water

 

Chia Seeds and Lemon Facemask

This one is messy but a lot of fun! It contains Omega 3, is anti-inflammatory, anti-ageing, helps reduce acne scaring and lifts dull and dry looking skin. Perfect for all skin types this natural vitamin C mask is a definite must!

What you need:

  • 1 tbsp ground chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp oil (coconut or olive)
  • 1 tbsp squeezed lemon juice

Instructions:

  • Rinse face with warm water
  • Mix all ingredients together to form a paste
  • Apply to face using fingertips in a small upward motion for 2-3 mins
  • Leave on for 10-15 mins
  • Rinse off using warm water

 

Coffee and Sugar Body Scrub

This scrub is great to help improve circulation reduce the appearance of cellulite, helps prevent ageing and exfoliates dead skin cells leaving your skin feeling silky smooth!

What you need:

  • 1/2 cup of ground coffee
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of oil (olive or coconut)
  • 1tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  • Mix all ingredients together
  • Gentle place on skin
  • Massage in an upward direction for 3 minutes
  • Wash off with warm water
