5 Ways to Relax During the Holidays

The holidays are a time for getting cosy, relaxing by the fire and being with loved ones. However, the modern day pressures we put on ourselves can get in the way of what’s really important. That’s why I’ve put together a simple list of free things you can do to unwind and press reset. 

1. Do yoga in your Pyjamas.

Why get dressed if you don’t have to? Enjoy a lazy morning, make yourself a cup of herbal tea and start your day off with some gentle stretching to get the blood flowing and set your intention for the day. You will most likely be more productive by taking this time out to align with your body and breath. 2. Add your favourite essential oil to your shower or bath.

This is possibly one of the easiest things to do to give yourself a little luxury every day! In the mornings I love to add a peppermint or eucalyptus oil and in evenings a relaxing lavender blend sets me up for a blissful sleep. Get that spa feeling at home and give yourself a treat! 

3. Spend time outside

Set aside time in your day to disconnect from your phone (I like to put it on airplane mode every so often) and go for a walk in nature. If you are brave enough challenge yourself to leave your phone at home. Take a deep breath and practice being in the moment as you take in the sights, sounds and smells along the way. It’s important to find some quiet time in each day to reflect, process and exist in the present moment.

4. Make your own candles

I love making candles and especially at Christmas time as they make great gifts for your friends and family! Afterwards your house also smells divine; the perfect way to get into the festive mood! You will need to buy the wax and wicks, but you can re-use glass jars that you have around the kitchen. Simply heat up the wax by standing a metal pot in hot water, add your favourite festive essential oils and pour! 

5. Make a face mask or body scrub.
